The Halo Group specialises in Christmas market design and build. This burgeoning sector offers a range of unique opportunities during the festive period and represents one of our favourite style of projects to undertake. In this week’s blog “Christmas Markets UK – Design Guide” we take a look at the process.
Our temporary structure expertise coupled with our multi-award winning production services have positioned us at the forefront of the Christmas market UK sector. Our process starts with our in-house design team. We work in Cinema 4D, CAD, Vector Works, Photoshop, Illustrator and Sketch-Up Pro to produce ultra realistic 3D renders such as the image below from a recent Christmas market project in Manchester.
We pride ourselves on being able to reproduce our visuals in real life to the finest of details so it is paramount our designers understand the physical limitations required to achieve their mock ups. This is a crucial part of the design stage which will often see our project managers and production team working hand in hand with our digital department and our clients to create plans, ideas and designs before we enter the construction phase.
As seen in this example, our temporary structures, installations and production features are rendered within the actual environment we will be building to give our clients an accurate image of the end result. Special attention is given to our intended choice of materials, colour schemes, textures and even the precise layout of site. To achieve this, we work off 2D site plans, CAD files and other documents to ensure positioning, dimensions and event flow are all perfectly calibrated at the live event.
In the capital, we are well known for our work on the Night Tales, Birdies, Backyard Cinema and Magic Roundabout semi-permanent and pop-up street food markets. These share many characteristics with Christmas markets with their food concessions, bars, music and entertainment features. Many of the above venues are award winning in their own right, with each of the organisers commissioning The Halo Group to create their site plans, model their designs and of course build them. Our recent project in Manchester drew on our experience working in London.
In this week’s blog, Christmas Markets UK – Design Guide we have explored the digital side of the design process. Watch this space for more details as we embark on a range of similar projects in London, the UK, Dubai and Brisbane Australia coming soon.
