The Halo Group was commissioned by Miss Cakehead (for Golin PR) during a Christmas PR campaign that would see the creation of a Chocolate Grotto, with virtually every component completely constructed from chocolate and packed full of Cadbury’s products. This exciting brief really ignited the imagination of everyone involved!
Our brief was to create a set which would encourage “stop and stare” moments and enhance the Cadbury's Christmas PR Campaign, online story and media interaction. Looking inside the trailer from a raised platform constructed using The Halo Group's modular steel build system, people were able to see into a grotto made entirely from chocolate. Much to everyone's delight, this highly unusual build presented various delicious challenges!
To achieve the end result, our production team created the framework from stud walls and then lined its interior with a wide range of Cadbury's festive chocolate bars. For anything which wasn't made of chocolate, a special resin was added to select surfaces to give an authentic look and feel, giving the illusion that the grotto was entirely edible. The interior cladding featured real bars of festive Cadbury's Dairy Milk to create “the ultimate edible wallpaper”. A selection of large set pieces, fabricated in house by The Halo Group featured prominently within the design such as a chocolate fireplace, chocolate covered Christmas trees, a chocolate effect Santa’s Grotto workshop wall to display products, an oversized Curly Wurly ladder and a Wispa table clad in a mosaic of Cadbury's products.
