The Halo Group continues its partnership with multi-award winning pop up organisers Background Bars this May with a fresh production concept that is already being heralded as London’s most hotly anticipated temporary food, drink and music venue this summer.
Background Bars is the company behind the acclaimed Night Tales series, East London’s favourite pop-up venue. Now in our 3rd consecutive year working with the brand, The Halo Group is excited about the prospect of this summer’s tropical revamp. Previous winter projects have seen The Halo Group design and build a series of bespoke structures on both the Old Street and Dalston sites as well as providing site styling and production services. The success of Night Tales has been meteoric, with the event setting the standard in the culinary, beverage and site styling categories.
This year’s activation comes with a fresh new format complete with groundbreaking set-design by The Halo Group.
Let’s set the scene…a sun-drenched urban tropical setting awaits in the heart of East London as Summer Tales takes a swing towards the southern hemisphere with the creation of a tropical installation complete with a two-tier jungle village, sun terraces to catch the rays, swing chairs to drink cocktails, hammocks to kick back & relax and private huts that promise to provide groups of friends with the perfect setting to take in the atmosphere.
An oversized jungle archway entrance will create instant impact and real wow factor as guests arrive, whilst for the more daring, a multi level adventure trail awaits in the canopy above allowing guests to enjoy an idyllic birds-eye view of the site like never before. Cross the rope bridge and fully immerse yourself in an incredible authentic setting complete with real vines, coconut shells, twisted woods and other natural materials, each giving its own layer of character to the build.
The Halo Group will provide all the structures for Summer Tales including a bespoke, two-tier sky village, 4 new bars and of course individually styled street trader stands. All site infrastructure, sound and lighting will also be provided by The Halo Group as well as a stretch tent to cover guests just in case the great British summer makes an appearance!
Summer Tales will as always feature many of London’s leading street food vendors, such as Burger & Lobster, Bell-Air and the Bonnie Gull Sesfood Bar amongst many other culinary delights.

As well as the food you can expect cocktails, craft beers and global DJ talent to rival any line up in East London, thus making for the perfect summer party vibe.
Creative Project Manager Emma-Jane Ireland from The Halo Group says:
“We are hugely excited about this evolving project. Now in our third year working with Background Bars, this year’s delivery will be brought to life by our specialist team of scenic painters, set builders and art and production staff. This year’s fresh format has been inspired by a tropical oasis, featuring rustic elements such as drift-woods, tropical vines and a variety of unique materials. The pop-up trend has been prevalent in London and Night Tales has enjoyed being at the forefront of this. With more competition on the scene, you can expect this year to be bigger and better than ever before, producing a transformational delivery that aims to transport guests of Summer Tales to tropical climes.”
As the launch of Summer Tales on the 22nd of May approaches the anticipation is building down at Halo HQ, but don’t take our word for it. Here’s a round up from the good people at the press!
