Temporary structures make for quality, practical solutions in event planning. They help minimize the usual issues encountered in setting up an event, such as location, edifices, and space. What’s more, you can use them to raise brand awareness, all the while maintaining a fun and festive atmosphere.

The Power of Temporary Structures

Fun and functionality—these are the elements temporary structures bring to the event-planning table. There are several reasons why these setups can amp up your event’s power to a notch. Mostly, though, they deal with portability, cost, customization, and creativity.

Temporary Structures

This is why they’re favorites in the affairs arena. They’re used to set up stages, mezzanines, balconies, hospitality bars, marquees, and the like. When an event demands for an instant location, temporary structures run to the scene and erect themselves on chosen ground. Fast and hassle-free, they’re the answer to every event organizer’s prayer.

5 Elements to Examine before Going for Temporary Structures

But wait, there’s more. If you want your temporary structures to effectively perform their function, you need to first consider these 5 elements. Don’t worry, their study doesn’t take too much time and effort. However, once you factor these in, you can utilize your structures to their maximum level.

1. Safety and security

Safety and security are non-negotiable factors in every event. These should be present in the use of temporary structures as well.

For starters, conduct a thorough inspection of your chosen location. If you’ve always had a thing for dealing with the nitty-gritty, now’s the ideal time to unleash all the force behind that side! When it comes to event safety, you can never be too sure nor too thorough.

Temporary Structures

Leave no stone unturned—literally. Check the path going to and from the location. Next, inspect the structures themselves. Is there a sliver of wood sticking out? Perhaps there’s a tear in the material that could potentially bring injury.

Inspect wires and pipes. If even a single strand shows through, ask building engineers to cover them accordingly.

If you spot anything out of the ordinary, immediately report your findings to your provider. Note, though, these are rarely likely to occur, what with stringent measures in place to ensure user safety. Still, it’s better to be safe than sorry.

2. Location

Temporary structures generally do well regardless of where they’re set up. Nonetheless, you still need to inspect every nook and cranny of your event location.

This is somehow related to safety in the sense that all paths leading to and from the venue must be declared secure. In addition, the location must complement the event’s theme as well. Doing so helps set the mood and creates a believable vibe for the affair.

For example, pop-up events are best set up on flat, level ground. People then can go to and from one area to another with ease, and without worrying they might injure themselves along the way.

Temporary Structures

In addition, it helps to pick a location that provides convenience for all involved: planners, guests, and temporary setups alike. This makes the planning process easier down the line, so spare yourself the future hassles and challenges.

3. Layout

You’ve determined where to hold the event. Next, you need to come up with its respective layout. This provides you a bird’s-eye view of the whole happening, and you get to map out the details better.

Having a layout works great for events held in a vast expanse of space. You may feel overwhelmed looking at all that blank area, but with a layout in place, you get to focus on how you want your event to go.

Temporary Structures

Again, key in all factors. There’s parking to consider. Another is the entrance and exit to the venue. Make sure the temporary structures are placed strategically; in other words, they shouldn’t be a cause of obstruction.

Furthermore, ensure there are lots of free, open spaces for your guests to roam around in. You wouldn’t want them to feel cramped or stuffy during the event.

4. Building and zoning codes

Though intended only for short-term use, temporary structures too sometimes require permits before they can be set up. This, though, depends on the area you’re currently in. Some places are fine with you putting up temporary edifices, while others require screening and permission before a setup is done.

In addition, look into your area’s zoning codes. There are codes that permit a specific structure to be set up in an area. Other codes disallow you from putting up a structure on a particular area.

Temporary Structures

Again, it really depends on your current location. Maybe you can put up an experiential temporary structure on a wide field, or maybe not. Consult only your city or county inspectors to get the most reliable information possible.

5. Facilities and utilities

Before putting up temporary structures, ensure your chosen location has adequate facilities and utilities. Consider accessibility to the following: electricity, water access, and plumbing.

The abovementioned factors are basics to any good event location. They provide comfort to guests and contribute to the smooth running of the event. This especially rings true for festival events, where a large chunk of the setup relies on temporary structures.

Remember, you want your guests to have fun. For this to be possible, you need to provide them with the basic facilities and utilities.

The Importance of Temporary Structures

You can’t downplay the key role of temporary structures in modern-day events. They’re the recent stars in affair planning, and why not? They offer both reliability and convenience like never before, all without creating an impact on quality.

It’s easier to hold outdoor events nowadays, thanks to temporary setups. But while these may be the top choice for planners, remember that you can’t just put them up on a whim. Albeit impermanent, they’re still what they are—structures. And structures require scrutiny for safety measures.

Temporary Structures

Therefore, before you put to good use the excellent power of temporary structures, do your part, and take note of these 5 crucial elements. Your event is sure to run more smoothly in this manner. Plus, you can rest easy knowing your guests are in safe, secure hands.

Party away!
